All of a sudden the lights went out. I had time on the UPS to shut the computers down. Power stayed out, so I got the camera. Apparently someone had hit a power pole...the roads were icy.
I did several long exposures using only light reflected from the clouds. Then I combined them into an HDR composite image and saturated the colors. It's amazing to me how much detail was captured in near-darkness
and brought out while combining the images. I certainly couldn't read the street sign nor make out the color of the truck. I didn't even know that there were still colored leaves on the trees. I used the light
from the camera's LCD panel to light my way back into the house.
