This idea came from an article on the Strobist web site. The idea is to eliminate shadows without flares from a flash/strobe.
I've been working with it and making some progress but there are some items that I have a hell of a time with, in particular, an ornamental tea cup with gold leaf running through the pattern of its decoration.
You can see the flare from the flash in this photo.
